Why hire a licensed boat captain for your lake day?
Hiring a licensed captain ensures safety, eliminates legal risk, and allows you to fully enjoy your lake day. Our captains handle navigation, safety, and logistics so you can relax and focus on fun.
How many people can we take on the boats?
Each vessel can carry up to 12 passengers + 1 charterer + 1 captain, for a total of 14 people per United States Coast Guard regulations. If your group exceeds this number, multiple boats will be required, even if the vessel allows more. Children count toward the total.
Do I need to fill out a waiver?
Yes, all passengers must complete a waiver before boarding. Click here to fill out your waiver online. The waiver ensures everyone understands the safety rules, terms of service, and captain authority for a safe and enjoyable trip.
How does hiring a captain work?
Contact us to schedule your group’s date. We recommend booking your captain first to ensure availability. If you need help finding a boat, we can assist. Our captains meet you at your chosen marina or, in some cases, deliver the boat to your location. We have an extensive network of licensed captains and rental companies to make your lake day easy and stress-free. Multiple captains are available for larger groups.
Do you provide or rent boats?
Bearded Boat Captain provides licensed and insured captains to drive your private or rented boat. We do not own or rent boats ourselves, but if you need a boat, we can coordinate with our network of trusted rental partners to secure one for you. This makes it easy for you to enjoy your lake day without worrying about logistics.
How long do charter trips last?
All trips have a 4-hour minimum, with typical durations of 4, 6, or 8 hours. Weekend charters (Friday-Sunday) are billed as 8-hour minimums, weekdays as 4-hour minimums unless otherwise agreed upon at the time you schedule your trip. We can accommodate your plans, but the full scheduled time is due regardless of early return.
What types of services do you offer?
We provide licensed and insured captains to drive your private or rented boats for your lake day adventure. Additional services include on-the-water boat training, weddings and vow renewals, and other guided lake activities. We also coordinate with fishing and bowfishing guides if desired.
What type of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, credit, or debit cards. Card payments are processed via Square, which includes a small processing fee. Payment is collected at the end of the trip unless otherwise agreed.
